The Sanctum Soup Kitchen

the Sanctum Foundation Soup Kitchen

The Sanctum Foundation is a global non-profit organisation which seeks to restore dignity, health, opportunity and hope to vulnerable children living in poverty. We envision communities in which our children have access to sufficient nutritious food and a restored hope for a brighter future. It is for these reasons that we have established an on going "Sanctum Foundation Soup Kitchen Initiative" to be rolled-out nationally in partnership with the United Congregational Churches of Southern Africa (UCCSA). Our current operational Soup Kitchen is located at the UCCSA in Kraaifontein Cape Town, South Africa.

Our mission is to change vulnerable lives within the communities we serve by establishing strategic partnerships and creating a network with companies, organisations and individuals that collectively contribute to its upliftment and development. However we cannot do this without your continued support and partnership. We are in need of a constant supply of dry / canned foods and fresh vegetables in order to keep the demand. We welcome any donation of any amount towards the operational costs as this will assist us a great deal. You are welcome to support us by purchasing our merchandise through our Sanctum Charity Shop.

Heritage day Outreach -
ManenberG- 24 September 2020

The Art of Giving was at hand in celebration of Heritage Day with our children at The Sanctum Foundation. The Outreach at our Manenberg - Cape Town Home was nothing short of a blessing as we heeded the President's call for everyone to partake on the famous Jerusalem Dance!

We did this with our children and it was quite a special moment indeed. The spirit of giving lives in each and every one of us. We at The Sanctum Foundation believe that together we can do more...one small act of kindness at a time.

A special thank you to our team member, Shafiq and his mother for spear heading the initiative and for always serving our disadvantaged community members of the Manenberg area. We honour you and we salute you for your hardwork and commitment towards the community!

Masigcine Children's Home Outreach -Mfuleni- 06 September 2020

Masigcine (which means, "let us cherish") is a registered Children’s Home, in Mfuleni, where 28 orphaned, abandoned and HIV infected little children between the ages of 3–months and 6–years of age live. These children are referred to Masigcine by Social Workers via the Children’s Court.

This Children’s Home was started in 1989 when a social worker from the community saw the need of the destitute children in the area and with the help of Rev. Eddie Schaeffler, the Chairman of the Church Council of the Dutch Reformed Church in Kuilsriver, Masigcine was born. A group of business men from Kuilsriver contributed to the building costs for the erection of the Children’s Home. The women of the Dutch Reformed Church congregation helped with fund raising to finish, furnish and equip the facility.

Masigcine is now under the protection of the United Reformed Church of Southern Africa – Mfuleni Congregation.
